What to Look For When Choosing an Evening Outfit
Our little tips on what to look for when choosing an outfit for that special evening event
We can’t all attend The Met Gala unfortunately, and very few of us are able to experience a red carpet event. However, we can attend fancy black tie events, work parties, wedding parties, really extravagant birthday parties…. you get our jist.
We all want to look fabulous at these events, to blow people away and to even make a few people jealous over how good you look. But here at Tallulah Tennant, we know planning an evening outfit can, at times, be a little stressful. But fear not, to help you destress, we’ve created for you our short, simple guide on how to choose the perfect evening outfit. Our little gift from us to you, if you will…
Below is a list of areas you should consider when choosing the perfect outfit, and our recommendations on each:
Colour: Perhaps you could consider making a statement with a bright colour. There are very few people that a bright colour doesn’t suit. It is just a matter of confidence, and we all have it within us to pull a bright, vivid, vibrant outfit off. Yes. black, white or navy are safe bets, but it’s also a safe bet that you’re going to look the same as everyone else… unless that’s what you’re going for?
Shapes: Do not… I repeat, do not, just follow a trend. One, it will have a very short window of being a popular fad trend in which it can be worn, and how amazing would it be for you to have the same stunning pieces in 20 years , and they still be as show stopping as they are today . Pick a shape that flatters you, and remember a traditional silhouette may be best if you want to keep and wear this dress for years into the future.
Accessories: Complementary accessories are a must. Matching the bag to your jewellery, and shoes is very passee at least in my opinion.
Trousers: Yes! Trouser suits are becoming more and more of an accepted norm for woman, so pick a style that is flattering to your shape. If you are a regular trouser person then you probably already have a very good idea of what that style and fit is. Whatever feels most comfortable to you is the key.
Jumpsuits: These are now also a very chic, versatile option if you don’t fancy wearing a traditional ball gown or evening dress. Jumpsuits can be glammed up or down depending on the occasion, and create an easy, relaxed yet still flattering and stylish outfit. See our previous blog post on the history of jumpsuits.
Pockets: Well, need we say any more….. Practicality people!
We very much hope our little guide will help at least one of you complete your perfect evening outfit in a more relaxed, stress free way.
