Elaine of Astolat is a woman in Arthurian legend who dies of her unrequited love for Sir Lancelot. She suffers from a mysterious curse and must weave images on her loom without ever looking directly at the world. Instead, she looks into a mirror, which reflects the busy road and the people of Camelot who pass by “I am half-sick of shadows"
